Count your blessings, not your worries...

That's what the message said inside my Dove chocolate this morning.  I'm a worrier.  It's what I do.  It's in my blood.  My mom is a nut- she worries about everything, and I mean EVERYTHING.  I'm 22 and married and she still asks me what I ate for lunch and makes me call after long road trips (and by long I mean anything over 1 1/2 hours).  Lucy (my grandma,) on the other hand, makes me call when I get home after visiting her - she lives about 10 minutes away.  She also worries about the bed we sleep in (it can't be good for our backs) and the bed that her neighbors sleep in.  So, I have been doomed to a life of worrying from the start and ironically enough I married a man who has never had a care in the world.  Eric is constantly reminding me to take a deep breath and trust the Lord.  I am grateful for that, and although his laid back attitude and adventurous spirit makes me worry, I think we balance each other out quite nicely.  At least when he is jumping out of planes with our children, someone will be on the ground worrying about them.  As for now, I'm going to stop counting my worries and start counting my blessings...

Now What?

Well, now that the Olympics are over we just aren't quite sure what to do with ourselves?  We have spent the last 2 weeks enthralled with the Olympics.  So much so that Eric has even grown an Apollo Ohno tribute "flavor savor."  I for one think he looks very sexy.

Can you see the resemblance??

Here are a few more of our Olympic Highlights...

USA Bobsled.... 1st Gold in 60+ years... holla.

Bode Miller walked away with a Gold, Silver, and Bronze.  Even though three golds would be pretty sweet, I think I side with Bode on this one - One of every color.

Jeret Peterson's Hurrican was one of my favorites.

Joannie Rochette broke my heart and stole Eric's.

Shaun White - my personal all time favorite and the reason why I love red heads.

And finally... Lindsey Vohn.  She had some struggles but who can complain about a gold and a silver?

We throughouly enjoyed the Olympics and have both had questions of - why didn't I do something like that?  Well, the good news is we have 4 years of training ahead of us.  Eric, of course will be speed skating while I think I would enjoy ski jumping (I'm pretty good on the Wii fit).

Watch for us... Sochi 2014.

Park City

Eric surprised me with an AMAZING weekend in Park City.  We spent Saturday snowboarding (Thank you John and Donna for our Ski passes!)  at the beautiful resort at Park City.  The weather was beautiful and we were even pleasantly surprised with a pretty heavy snowfall that gave us some nice powder.

After snowboarding Eric took me to the SPA.

We went to the Aura Spa on Park City Main St.  It was the cutest little place I have ever been and I highly recommend it to anyone.  We enjoyed a couples massage and foot treatments.  It was Eric's first foot treatment and I think he was surprised about how much he liked it.  I hope he doesnt expect me to repeat the treatment.  I don't do feet - I can give a mean massage, but I don't do feet.

Here is a painting that was in the Spa

We also had a near death experience. While a GPS can be a very helpful and life-saving feature, it can also lead you into a death trap.  For those of you who don't know, Eric drives a very large and very sexy big black truck.  Park City is full of very narrow and winding streets.  As we followed the directions from the GPS we found ourselves at the top of a winding hill.  We slipped right down the hill. Eric pumped the breaks but we couldn't stop.  Soon we were sliding sideways down the hill with no hope of stopping.  Eric managed to pull into a driveway where we were able to gain our composure and say a prayer. We headed back out and decided to go up the hill, rather than back down it.  Eric did such a good job.  If I had been driving, I can almsot guarantee you I would have panicked and we would have crashed.  He is my hero.  Our primary lesson today just happened to be about how the Lord watches over us.  Coincidence? I think not.

San Jorge

We took our semi-annual trip to Saint George last weekend with our favorite people. Saint George has become something that we look forward to every year. This year was the first time we took the trip as a married couple and so, naturally, we became the unofficial, “chaperones,” of the group. Eric took the role very seriously and proclaimed that everyone must be kissed on Valentines Day. Besides Ryan and Jill (who are getting married April 29- woot woot) no one was kissed. Other activities from the weekend included… Sports, great food, the parade of homes, games, Olympics, music, hiking, bbq, pool and hot tub, THE MOSS TOSS, and the best friends. Here are a few pictures from the hike we took.
Eric and Skiz (Scott's little bro) hiking

They are perfect for eachother

This is Skyler - He is the third Johnson brother and was pretty
much the entertainment for the trip

There has never been a trio like this
The group- love these people with all our hearts

After they all jumped off the cliff into the FREEZING cold water
And the grand finale- Eric cliff jumping into the coldest water he's ever been in. He jumped off a higher cliff than this later, but this video is better.

Love

Valentines Day just happened to fall on our 6 month anniversary. We are celebrating in Saint George - I Love You Eric!!!!!

"Girls, aim high, but do not aim so high that you totally miss the target. What really matters is that he will love you, that he will respect you, that he will honor you, that he will be absolutely true to you, that he will give you the freedom of expression and let you fly in the development of your own talents. He is not going to be perfect, but if he is kind and thoughtful, if he knows how to work and earn a living, if he is honest and full of faith, the chaces are you will not go wrong, that you will be immensely happy... True love is not much a matter of romance as it is a matter of anxious concern for the well-being of one's companion." - Gordon B. Hinckley

Britney

I just got off the phone with my dear friend MacKenzie. I have known Mac since Kindergarten and we shared many good times together throughout the years, including living together for my favorite year here at BYU. We have laughed until it hurts, pulled pranks, built forts, gone on road trips, talked to each other in our sleep, and even liked the same boys. This particular phone conversation had us both in tears and has left me particularly impressed and inspired by her family's never ending strength. MacKenzie's older sister Britney, a 27-year-old wife and mother of three, has been in a coma now for 7 months. Last June she was suddenly rushed to the hospital for stomach pains, underwent several emergency surgeries, and not long after fell into a coma like state. There has been little progress since. While some may be filled with feelings of helplessness and despair, MacKenzie and her family have been a source of strength and hope. My many conversations with MacKenzie over the last few months have strengthened my own testimony of the Lord's Great Plan of Happiness for us. He is an all-knowing, loving Heavenly Father, and although there may be trials in our life that we don't understand or seem impossible to overcome, if we put our trust in him, he will carry us through.

It's hard to find the words of comfort to give to MacKenzie and her family, nothing ever seems like enough. MacKenzie has asked for prayers - Please pray for Britney and her family so that this mother can come back to her three beautiful children.

You can follow Britney's blog here for any updates or information.
