oh heeeey

Sorry about the lag in posting.  I'm working two jobs now so I'm pretty busy as you can imagine. I work my new job as a behavior therapist from 8-5, and then tutor until about 9.  Like I said, I'm pretty busy, but I love my new job and it's really opened up my eyes to new opportunitites that I had not  thought about before. But more about my awesome new job later...

Last weekend Eric and I took a long weekend and drove up the California coast!  It is the first trip that we have taken just the two of us since our honeymoon and we had so much fun!

                                                               First stop - Malibu Pier

We stopped in Santa Barbara for lunch and visited the old Spanish Mission.
I may or may not have teared up inside thinking of Spain.

Eric loves taking silly pictures... obvisouly.

A bus within a bus.... genius.

We stayed the first night in Avila Beach... it was cozy, quaint, and absolutely perfect.

There was a farmer's market in town and we had a blast listening to the music and eating delicious food.
 Um, yes please.

Most delicious thing ever.

We stayed at the coolest hotel! It was the most welcoming, comfortable hotel that I have ever stayed at and we can't wait to visit again! There was a welcome basket of goodies in our room, a fireplace, free movie rentals, and fresh chocolate chip cookies 24 hours a day. It was like staying at grandma's!

Oh, and we had a hot tub in our room.

It wouldn't be a trip without a few little hiccups.  Saturday night we had a "visitor" knock on our balcony door at 1 am.  A drunk guest of the hotel climbed up our balcony and tried to come through our door because he couldn't find the main entry to the hotel. Even though he told us that he was unarmed (all he had was his pants and his wallet - literally) and just looking for his room, we didn't feel comfortable letting him in. Duh.  He was extremely persistent and just wouldn't climb off our balcony.  I eventually got one of the hotel workers who was finally able to talk him down.

It was scary at first, but we went to bed laughing.

We woke up Saturday morning to a completely flat tire.  We ran over a nail at some point during our drive, and the tire slowly leaked over night.  It was a bummer, but we were lucky that we didn't have a blow out on the road.

After we got the tire fixed, we headed up to Monterrey and spent the rest of the night exploring the city.

In the morning we went to the famous Monterrey Bay Aquarium.

And then we drove home and enjoyed the unbelievable views!

The weekend away was just what we needed, and we hope to make the trip a tradition! I had so much fun with my best friend and at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if we're hanging out in Monterrey or in our own apartment - he makes everything so fun!

That Just Happened

I'm pretty sure Eric thought I was perfect when we got  married.  I had him fooled for a while, but apparently I have a few "annoying" habits. Who knew?  One such habit is unknowingly moving the remote control away from him when I sit down next to him on the couch.  Is it my fault that I want to get as close to him as possible?  The remote just gets in my way and it has to go.

This being said, the following scene just took place in our home:

The Mrs: (Sits down next to The Mr. and moves his bag of chips away from him.  The Mr. gives her a look) "Sorry honey, I  guess I do that with everything, not just the remote control."

The Mr: "I noticed."

The Mrs:  "huh?"

The Mr:  "I noticed."

The Mrs: "What?"

The Mr: "And it's noted."

The Mrs: (Still sitting next to The Mr.) "WHAT?"

The Mr: "Man, your freaking deaf."

The Mrs: "What??  You think I look like death?"

The Mr: "Really?  Are you serious right now?"

Unfortunately, I was.

Jack Attack

It has become tradition that Jack spend his Spring Break with me.  The last two years he has visited us in Provo, this year he kicked up his SB a knotch, by coming out to Hermosa Beach!  I don't know about him, but I happen to think that Hermosa Beach is a little more exciting than Provo.  We got to do a lot of really fun things while he was here...

We went to Disneyland of course!

And ran into our long lost cousin, Nick!

We went whale watching!!  We saw whales and California Sea Lions!!

And I learned that I get seasick...

Jack made us breakfast... Biscuits and chocolate gravy.  Yum!

And we went on an AMAZING hike in Palos Verdes!

I had such a great time with Jack!  I think I had more fun than he did,  it was so good to be with my family again.  I love living in California, but I miss my family A LOT.  I'm worried that Eric wont let them come visit anymore because I get so sad when they leave.  (ie: I cried for 5 days straight when my dad left and that is not an exaggeration)  I only cried for a day after Jack left, so I'm getting better, right?  But can you really blame me when I have such a great family that I love so much?  I didn't think so.

Buenas noches

Did you know that I lived in Spain for a little while?  Did you know that I loved it there and saw lots of cool things? And had lots of unbelievable experiences?  If you know me at all, you probably knew all of that.  It's hard for me not to talk about it.

Did you also know that I went with one of my best friends?  And that she made the trip so much better?   Well it's true. We traveled the world together. And now we both live (with the hubbys) in another one of the world's most exciting cities.  Friday night's girls' night turned into a path down memory lane and we relived some of Euro trip memories.

First we went to the LACMA.  Modern art isn't really our thing, but we got to see some of the exhibits that were in Europe with us.

And then we ate Spanish food at a restaurant called Little Spain...

And just in case you wanted to see more photos from our adventures...

Here we are drinking from the "fountain of marriage"... It worked for us!  We married our men just one week apart from each other in the Denver Temple!

Covadonga on a rainy Spain day

Our first Bull fight

Getting cozy on the way to Barcelona

In Lisbon, Portugal

Portugal, again... representing the CO!

Needless to say, we had a blast.

Oh, and please ignore my orange hair and chubby face in the Spain pictures.
